A few things that were disappointing from yesterday, other than game 3. Not that we didn't expect it, but Stevie Buck and Bailey both no shows against the team that they abandoned two weeks before opening day. I'm sure they had good reasons, but C'MON MAN! Secondly, the Lions have a couple of guys that are basically BAD for the league. Barker does have an overall good group of guys that are great for the league. Barker, J.L., Walker, and most of the rest of you guys are a lot of fun to compete with. Lastly, the Lions vs Steelers game was very sloppy played and down right dirty at times. Maybe the most penalties ever in a SFL game. I have only thrown 2 flags in 4 games that I have officiated before. I know I threw at least 5 or 6 myself, not counting the other refs. Flag guarding, offsides, pass interference, roughing the passer, holding, tackling, etc. Both sides were guilty, surely we can play cleaner games than this. Oh yea, and THANKS to Isaiah for helping out with the officiating! Here is a guy that volunteered for a job that none of us in the league want to do and he is not even on a roster this year(due to his job). Sorry Isaiah, I hope that if you will come back to ref some more games they will be a little better played.

The only thing we got called for was flag guarding and it was not necessary to throw ur flags on 75% of those plays especially when the score was 26-0 late In the game.. I have already requested that a certain person never does our games again bc he was just down right bad and made every call against us.. I believe on purpose. He also cost us a shutout on the worst call ever in sfl history. He called a hold on an obvious flag guard where the runner put his shoulder down and ran over our corner. Then ran about 40 for a TD. This game should have been a shut out. But it's ok.. We all know who's defense is more feared. There were integrity and character issues shown on sunday and if you have these problems just don't ref. I'm sure we can find someone who can call a game correctly. Thats what I'm disappointed about.. We just balled out so don't bitch about a dirty game bc the steelers were fine. We played 2 halves of hard nosed steel curtain football

First of all...there are some guys on the Lions that are flirting with getting banned. PERIOD.
Secondly...Offutt if you think my brother, Mike Barnes, called the the game bad on purpose, then you are effin crazy man. The fact of the matter is, most teams dont have a problem with officiating, and if they do its during the game and afterwards no one even cares. I've witnessed more bitching and complaining this year than I have seen in the history of this league. . I think it's funny that you actually believe a call was made to deny you a shutout. Maybe if you guys didnt complain about everything and act so obnoxious you would get some calls.
FOR THE LAST TIME. IF YOU WANT TO BITCH AND COMPLAIN ABOUT REFS THEN DONT COME. THIS LEAGUE IS BEING RUN BY BART AND A HANDFUL OF GUYS THAT HAVE KIDS, JOBS, ETC.. THIS LEAGUE IS FOR FUN. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN THE MOST PAINFUL BECAUSE OF TEAMS NOT SHOWING/BITCHING AT REFS/DIRTY PLAY. REFS ARE VOLUNTEERS. THEY DIDNT ATTEND A CLASS, THEY DONT GET PAID.

Offut, you are the biggest crybaby I have personally ever met in a while. At the end of the day it is just flag football, why do you think I am out to get you. On the so called "worst call" in SFL history your corner was called for stripping at the ball not holding. It is illegal to try and force a fumble, I wouldn't have called it but he swatted across his body to strip the ball in Walker's opposite hand. I believe if you would just settle down and realize this is just flag football then you would have more fun. It is sad when guys on your own team say "don't pay attention to him, he always acts like this". There were "character flaws" aplenty on Sunday I agree.

I will agree with one thing Offutt, the game was never within reach after the Steelers first offensive possession of the second half. The play they scored on was questionable, but your corner never made any attempt to go for a flag and the rest of your team has to know that you don't stop playing until the whistle blows. I will not take up for anyone for making a bad call, but I will be the first to tell you that I am not good at reffing at all, but nobody else will do it. You complained the whole game about bad calls being made on your guys catching the ball out of bounds, when your own guys were telling you how obvious it was. Offutt, you have a good bunch of guys that I felt showed pretty good sportsmanship over the course of the game, but I don't believe an NFL official could keep YOU happy. I will give you this Offutt, you kept your comments low key and communicated them to just me and did keep them respectful. I do appreciate that!

Mike no one is crying. Im just looking out for my team and I dont want you reffing us anymore. I told bart privately and was not going to say anything until my team got called out.. I didn't say one word to u about a call so go fuck yourself.. You don't like us everyone on my team knows it And so do u.. And that's fine, thAts your choice. I could care less what your feelings about me or my team are. Everyone knows it flag football, I still play my hardest want to win and want to be treated fairly.. So if that makes me an asshole so be it but my team will get the respect it deserves

Offutt....mike hasnt said anything about u guys...that was me. Mitch. Im the one that was ragging on ou guys for wearing elementary school gym class jerseys with your moms shoulder pads in them and throwing thirty shovel passes a game. I remember playing against u in a calvary's bball league. You guys were horrible and cried like school girls the whole year. Seems like things dont change. Want to talk about character?? Throwing a go eff yourself shows what kind of character you roll with. If you have a problem with someone, talk to them in person instead of acting like a 15 year old a school girl who's mad at her boyfriend and posting on message board. Instead you make assumptions.
As far as "requesting" who refs your games...lol good luck with that. You want to tell the other team what kind of defense to run.

Offut, just got done fucking myself, thanks....I have never said a word to anyone about you or your team. I believe you have me confused with my brother MBarnes whom you got into it with earlier in the year. I do have an idea though, how about you throw the ball inbounds to your players instead of 4 yards out of the back of the endzone, problem solved! You don't have to cry and I call your players inbounds, it's a win-win!

ok about the refs not being pros and getting paid. this is not an excuse to make terrible calls. call it the way bart and harmor do.. they let every thing go unless it is just blatant and game changing. I have thrown a few flags the whole year on blatant calls or to keep a fight from happening. you guys threw flags on like 5 consecutive plays after the game was a blowout. I understand that you guys are upset bc i said something. And Ill tell him to his face, i was trying to keep it quiet and not blow it out of preportion like u all just did.
Im over it. U guys are right, im a huge baby and want every call to go my way. I blow, my team blows and cant throw the ball in bounds. My team bought elementary jerseys, oh yeah and we have play cards that apparantley makes us douchebags, Oh we are really good at completing shovel passes tho. (when it stays in bounds) My team and I are assholes who have character issues because we say bad words sometimes :/ and arent afriad to speak our minds.

I too am over it, nor was I under it in the first place. When it comes down to it, it is just a bunch of guys trying to have fun playing flag football. Some guys make this a difficult task to do, you cannot please everyone all the time. I threw a total of 6 flags, 3 on each side. I would never intentionally call or not call something to get over on someone. The game was dirty, from both sides. The last play alone almost had two fights break out and that is unacceptable. Our jobs as refs is to keep it from getting to that point, hence the tighter calls towards the end of the game.

Now I have to chime in. LOL I have to know, what do you mean the game was dirty from both sides? I must have missed something because other than the "one guy" from the Lions playing dirty, I didn't witness any other dirty playing from either teams. Obviously, there was some trash talking going on but that is just part of any competitive sports. Gotta have that.
As for ref's, everyone that I have seen ref this year, ref's differently. Some only called blatant or obvious calls and other call every little foul and others that don't call anything, as you see in pros. In my opinion, there were calls that were missed and calls that I thought was petty. Even though I thought the flag guarding calls were a little extreme in our game, as long as it is consistent and fair, then it is what it is.
Offutt, I drawn the conclusion that since we are the "newbies" to the league, there's going to have some haters. I actually like it.

Craig, thanks for the input. What I was stating about volunteer refs is basically what you stated. Some guys will basically just make sure the two teams are playing and not fighting, some will call false starts, and be exactly at 25 seconds on the play clock. Me for example, I will give teams about 30 seconds for the play clock, I'm not going to call guys for false starts unless they are using it to gain an competitive edge. Were just lucky to get two refs other than Bart to show up and help us out...and then you have guys throwing out accusations of blatantly cheating while reffing....

Geesh... I skimmd through all this, I'll read it thoroughly and post my thoughts tomorrow while I'm subbing. Good or bad it is at least a positive that things are being said on the board instead of behind peoples back on both parts.
I agree that some guys have it out for others and teams over the years. (I'm not talking about yesterday) Example was Chunk Nixon volunteering to ref last year after his game just to call bogus flags, we had to make him leave. Some guys refuse to ref certain teams and guys games b/c they bitch to much. I also agree that some refs refuse to throw flags on obvious calls. I'll read over everything and give my opinion, not that it matters.

See that's bullshit though.. Giving someone 30 seconds and someone else 25... I let the teams know 15,10,5 in your game.. Sometimes u gotta use a time out but a rule is a rule.. The refs can at least follow them.. Thata one you shouldn't be lenient on.. I was just as hard on the bears as I was the bengals but I let u know how much time every play and that's fair
