- I always put a thread or two up telling guys who have been in the league and the new guys to make suggestions for the league. I don't take anything personally and your ideas may really be good and help.
If you have a suggestion or don't understand something I can always explain why we do some of the things we do.

I was going to suggest a 1 team expansion.. But the texans just need replaced..
An automatic fine jar... You wanna bitch at the refs fine but it's a dollar everytime towards new flags ect. Davisson you owe $15 from last Sunday
An league appointed SFL football. We waste time switching balls in and out That both teams use. I like the NFL ball
More emphasis on the 25 second play clock.. I'm trying to get more plays in for our time
If I think of anything else.. Ill repost.. I love the league bart u do a great job

Next year it is mandatory someone picks up Ed. Since he isn't there I miss his 3 & out by Ed Boggess. It was always one of my favorite parts of the league.

Hah, much appreciated Barker. I'm still around, loving the message board today, these guys are cracking me up good. It makes the league even better though, that's why we set this place up to begin with. Bart wanted me to play for the 49ers yesterday, but I was in Fairmont at the time and wasn't near Timbertown Stadium. I'm content with how things are. Not mad if I'm not playing, everyone knows that about me. Keeping the winless streak alive for sure, added another to that this season.

I think the clock and the ball go hand in hand. We do waste time chasing down balls in between posessions, and we waste time with one of the team member having to run down an incomplete pass.
When I'm in charge of the play clock I will give a team a 3-4 second cushion at the beginning of the game. I will give them the countdown, if they actually hurry up and get to the line and get the play off its fine. The point of the play clock is to keep the game moving along, and not allow teams to run out the clock obviously.
We need to inform teams at the beginning of the game that THEIR team is responsible for getting THEIR ball. If they dont have the ball, the play clock is going to start regardless. The Refs dont and shouldnt have to worry about that. One of the guys standing on the sidelines can keep the ball with them.
I know everyone is going to complain. Its part of sports, its when it gets out of control and beligerent is when its a problem. Right call or wrong call youre going to hear it.
And I'll make a point. KEEP YOUR SHIRTS TUCKED IN. I blew a play dead for the lions because one of their guys didnt have their shirt tucked in and it was over his flag. I know your shirt gets pulled out during a play, thats fine, but in between plays it needs tucked into your shorts and dont blouse your shirt out so far you cant see the belts. Tuck your shirt in like an old man. If youre worried about how you look then you shouldn't be playing anyways. Its ok if you have to be told once or twice, but I told the Lions and Bears 6 or 7 times in between two plays and a couple did. This will also help keep down on the broken belts because the lions and bears couldnt grab flags so they just started ripping belts.

Offutt, it is worth every bit of $15. The sad thing is that your officiating skills are worse than your arm, LOL! It is better to miss a call, than to make the wrong call. I had to get the whistle out of the little plastic package that was kicking your butt. I should have just given that whistle to one of the kids running around the field! I recommend that Stevie Buck does a 30 minute informative training video on officiating in the SFL. Everyone in the league must watch before they are eligible to play, not just ref. Thanks Stevie, for swallowing your whistle and letting us play(but i guess you owed it to us, since you are a traitor, HA)!

Haha.. Just got the sack to call the game correctly.. I don't care to hear bitching.. If I just let everything slide that game is never anywhere that close like it should of been... There should be penalties called.. When u let people play it gets out of hand sometimes.. We kept that game in control.. And the spots were on point... And I didn't blow a 33-8 lead so you can't blame anyone but yourselves

At no time did I blame anyone for us blowing that big of a lead, but I also agree that some calls have to be made, the right calls, that is. Up 33-8, u couldn't have gave them all the calls in the world to help them, if we could have just got a little something going in the second half. Give the Raiders credit for what they did, but this also is one of those win-win situations for us. We did get the W, to remain undefeated, but also believe that we have a lot to improve on and that we could have possibly blown that game wide open. Nobody expected us to jump out to that big of a lead, not even us. We laid back, they gained the momentum going into the half and the rest is history. Instant classic!

ok i have a new suggestion...
Next year we should expand the teams to 8 or just completely cut the texans to 6... No one likes the bye week.... everyone has complained... therefore people wont be missing 2 or 3 weeks of action. Minus the old men of the bengals no one needs a week off to rest.
I also think we should consider having an SFL league ball. Paint SFL on the ball and keep it in play at all times so on a change of possession the 25 second play clock starts to eliminate the low number of possessions we have been seeing in these games. The average offense gets around 6 chances a game. I think that would get upped to atleast 7-8 by not changing the ball out and game clock officials being on top of their clocks.

OFFUT THE 8 TEAM LEAGUE WILL NEVER HAPPEN. 3 GAMES A DAY WEARS ME OUT AND 4 WOULD JUST MAKE IT MISERABLE.
THE REASON I LIKE THE BYE IS BECAUSE IT GIVES GUYS A BREAK. SOME GUYS TAKE A LOT OF HEAT B/C THEY WORK 5 DAYS A WEEK AND ON SUNDAYS HALF THEIR AFTERNOON IS SPEND IN LPORT AND THE FAMILY MEN I ASSUME TAKE SOME HEAT FOR IT. BUT I'M NOT A BIG FAN OF THE BYE BECAUSE LIKE THE REST OF YOU GUYS I LOVE TO PLAY AND HATE TAKING A WEEK OFF.
I LOVE THE UNIVERSAL GAME BALL IDEA. LOVE IT. HERE'S THE KICKER, SOME QBS/TEAMS WOULD WANT A HIGH SCHOOL BALL, SOME WOULD WANT NCAA, SOME WOULD WANT NFL, AND HELL SOME WOULD WANT XFL. IF WE WENT TO A UNIVERSAL BALL HALF THE LEAGUE WOULD COMPLAIN. TECHNICALLY THE DEFENSE DOESN'T HAVE TO GET THE OFFENSE'S BALL BUT A LOT OF TEAMS HELP OUT EACH OTHER. I DON'T THINK THERE IS A SOLUTION TO THIS.
THE PLAY CLOCK IS 25 SECONDS. IT USUALLY IT KEPT PRETTY SOLID BUT WHEN YOU GET A GAME THAT GETS OUT OF HAND I DON'T BLAME THE REFS FOR NOT BEING ON TOP OF IT, HELL HAVE YOU SEEN THE TEXANS AND RENTAL DOLPHINS PLAY??? THE POINT OF THE 25 SECOND CLOCK IS TO KEEP THE PACE OF THE GAME GOING, THE GUYS DO A SOLID JOB.

Well I'm gonna start a poll throwing the universal ball idea out... And see what kind of feed back we get.. I think every team wants more offensive possessions each game

I like the universal ball idea too, but a solution for this season is to make sure that the guys on the team that arent in the game and are standing on the sidelines have the game ball and throw it to the QB or Ref at the beginning of the drive.
We should start flagging teams that dont have the ball on the sidelines and dont get it in play quick. I dont care if the ref or someone throws the ball to the other end of the field, someone should run down and grab it. Its each team's responsibility to have their ball ready to go.
I would say that if we put a rule into effect that if the ref asks for the ball once and the teams doesnt have it, thats fine. Second time the team doesnt have it, penalty.

Offut I wouldn't poll it, I would make a post asking all the quarterbacks to respond. The rest of the league should love the idea, but you guys who throw it are the ones whose opinion matters.
Mitch - we could roll with that.

New suggestion: The league requests each team to provide a certain number of refs per week and if they don't, then they pay a fine. The league should be reimbursed for the frustration. The captain from that team will not be eligible to play until the fine is paid in full. Then the money collected throughout the season could be used to pay refs for the playoffs. The good news is we only have to deal with this a couple more weeks. Bart, just curious, any ideas on how we will handle the championship? I think there should be at least 4 refs and with the way things look right now, we are looking at Bengals, Steelers, or Raiders as possible matchups. Do you think we will be able to find refs that everyone(OFFUTT, if they make it that far, lol) will be OK with?
